A widely recognized expert in unemployment insurance (UI) and related programs, Pete made significant contributions to the UI program throughout his career earning 15 Secretary of Labor Exceptional Achievement and Career Service Awards.
He worked in the UI programs for the State of Kentucky and for the US Department of Labor, becoming the Budget Officer for the DOL UI Service in the mid 1980s and, for the last twenty years of his career, served as the Regional Director of State Operations in Atlanta, Georgia, covering eight southern states. He served as a member of the board of directors of the Southeastern Employment and Training Association for five years and was made a permanent member of SETA on his retirement.
Pete is a member of the United Methodist Church where he has served as a lay leader and as a lay delegate to five UMC Annual Conferences. He holds BA and Master’s degrees from Tennessee Technological University and completed postgraduate work at the University of North Carolina and Georgia State University. Pete is a graduate of the Federal Executive Institute.
